Unica has been working together with ECCA since few years to provide solar lamp in the Chepang villages of Chitwan district. This project aims to support the school-going children with a solar lamp that would help them to do their homework in the evening.
This product has a health benefit as it may replace the kerosene (wicked) lamp. And, the project also helps to diminish the school absenteeism as the charging plate for the solar lamp is placed strategically in the school so that the child has to take one lamp everyday to the school to get it charged.
In addition, the project has been providing a water filter, first aid kid in the school including the trainings on keeping school environment neat and clean. The repair training for the solar lamp is also conducted in each cluster.
