The charity run organized by the Unica Foundation on September 14, 2017 to raise funds for the construction of water and sanitation facilities in the village of Thulodhunga in Nepal has raised as much as 30,757 euros. This amount will continue to increase by further donations. Nearly 100 participants participated – individually or in teams – at the 4th edition of the Welloop in Hoevelaken. Last year at the edition in 2016, 14,608 euros was collected from the sponsors of the annual run.
With the proceeds of the charity run the people in Thulodhunga can be helped to build a better life. In addition to the improvement in health, residents also get more time for other activities, such as growing vegetables and keeping goats or bees with which they can generate additional income.
Given the high proceeds of the Welloop, this will also be spent on the WASH project in Kalika, Nepal. This project will provide the villagers with clean drinking water, thanks to the use of solar panels and a pumping system.
Unica will again organize the charity run in 2018. This 5th edition of the Welloop will also take place in mid-September at De Wel in Hoevelaken.
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to this (unfortunately rainy) day: participants, sponsors, attendees and volunteers!
