The annual sponsorship run of the Unica Foundation in Hoevelaken last Thursday evening delivered an impressive amount of € 40,606. With that performance, the more than 100 participants amply exceeded the record revenue of last year (33,500 euros). The record amount will benefit the activities in Nepal, where the Unica Foundation provides technical assistance projects.
During the Welloop, named after the street in Hoevelaken where initiator Unica has his headquarters, participants walk as many laps of 900 meters as possible in one hour. The runners raised sponsoring through donations from individuals and business relations. As part of the sponsorship program of the Unica Foundation, various companies also made a general contribution to the activities of the foundation.
Ramkot
Ramesh Paudyal, Country Manager of the Unica Foundation in Nepal, received a check of no less than € 40,606 after the sponsor run. The Nepalese representative of the foundation also participated in the sixth edition of the sponsor run. Ramesh will use the collected funds in particular for a project in Ramkot. In that remote Nepalese village, 335 households and 2,000 inhabitants are supplied with water supplies and toilets. It is the largest project that the Unica Foundation has started in its 12-year existence.
Successful sponsor run
The Unica Foundation was established at the end of 2007 and provides technical assistance projects in Nepal. The foundation was set up by technical service provider Unica, on the initiative of one of the employees. The Unica Foundation has been active for twelve years, during which it has improved the living conditions of more than 40,000 people in Nepal through more than 60 projects.
The Welloop was organized for the sixth consecutive year, thanks to the efforts of many volunteers and the supervision by First Floor Productions. The sponsor run was also made possible by a large number of suppliers and sponsors who made an important contribution financially or in kind.
