The participants in the Welloop, the annual sponsor run organized for the Unica Foundation, have surpassed the record donation of a year earlier. The more than 125 runners managed to collect no less than € 33,492.45 in donations to supply the village of Hamsapur in Nepal with drinking water and sanitation.
During the Welloop, participants must walk as many lanes of 900 meters in an hour as possible across De Wel business park, where Unica’s head office is located. Participants collected sponsorship money with one-time donations or a contribution per run, individually or as a team. The excellent weather conditions unleashed the runners to do their best, which was reflected in the final donation.
Record donation
Ramesh Paudyal, Country Manager of the Unica Foundation, received a check of no less than € 33,492.45 for the projects of the Unica Foundation. This meant that the exploitation of this edition exceeded that of last year, when € 30,757 was raised for the activities of the foundation in Nepal. Support group chairman Edwin Koers proudly presented the check to Ramesh, who had participated in the sponsor run too.
Ten-year jubilee
The Unica Foundation was founded at the end of 2007 and provides technical development projects in Nepal. The foundation was set up by technical service provider Unica, on initiative of one of its employees. In the meantime, Unica Foundation has been active for ten years, and has coordinated more than 60 projects improving the living conditions of more than 40,000 people in Nepal. The 10-year jubilee was also celebrated during the Welloop. Together with supporters, volunteers and sponsors, the run was concluded at the beginning of the evening with a tasty buffet and all attendees were presented with the new brochure of the Unica Foundation, which was published on the occasion of the ten-year jubilee.
Succes
Because of the record donation, the beautiful weather, the dedication of many volunteers and the coördination through First Floor Productions, the fifth edition of the Welloop was a success. Catering company Daily Déli and Boels Verhuur also made important contributions to make the event possible.
