The Arnakot pico hydro project activities are undergoing vigorously. A team from Nepal Red cross Society (NRCS), Kaski recently visited the project from 8 to 10th of July 2019. They represented Oshin Power Service Pvt. Ltd, a construction contractor implementing fieldwork on the project site. The construction of the powerhouse, the turbine installation, and the connection of pipes are in progressive mode.
Water User Committee (WUC) Arnakot mobilizes local people for labor contributions. The local population was divided into three different groups and ensured the contribution of staff to the construction of a powerhouse, the connection of the pipeline, intake and the construction of anchor blocks. In addition, WUC starts monitoring the daily progress schedule (turn-by-turn among WUC members).
NRCS Kaski has met with various stakeholders, such as the water user committee, Nishikhola Rural Municipality (RM) and wards. The regular supervision of the project from the municipality and the regular release of the instalment for the project were the main focus points of the meeting. The Nishikhola RM mobilized the technical team for adequate monitoring of the project site and made a commitment to release the installment on a regular basis for WUC. Similarly, the meeting with the ward chairperson focused on the role of local government during project implementation, and the meeting with WUC focused on community participation, collection of maintenance funds and regular monitoring of project activities. The ward chairperson has given a commitment to follow the project on a weekly basis and to report the progress to the municipality and the Red Cross Society.
