After having fulfilled a placement for trainees at Unica, Roy became a full fledged employee in 1999. Having finished a number of additional training courses, as for example Business Engineering Systems, Roy’s position was Project Manager HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air conditioning) at Unica in Zwolle for a long time. After having visited Nepal in 2005 and 2006, together with Daan van Vliet, the idea to initiate Unica Foundation was born. In 2017 Roy got a job opportunity outside Unica, but he remains active as project manager at the Unica Foundation.
“In my view it’s important to apply the know-how we have to improve the living conditions of others, for the simple reason that we are able to. Even minor contributions can have a major impact. Because I can combine the foundation’s work with my day-to-day job, for me it’s a great opportunity to do my bit for a better world.”
